Adult Literacy Program

Our adult literacy program is aimed at reaching the adults within the community who would like to better themselves. There are four classes that are encompassed in the program, each targeting areas that will assist in self development. 

Reading and Writing

This program aims to assist adults in reading and writing skills.  Throughout the program the participants will be assisted in phonological awareness, word recognition, vocabulary building, developing writing ideas, parts of speech, punctuation, comprehension and practical uses. 

Mathematics and Basic Numeracy

This program aims to assist adults in basic Mathematics and numeracy skills. Topics within the program include place value and readng umbers, basic operation skills, understanding fractions, decimals and percentages, data analysis, statistics, ratio and practical application.   

Digital Literacy

This program aims to assist adults in basic computer skills. Topics within the program include internet research, email, online safety and security, understanding copyright and plagiarism, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.

Basic Financial Literacy

This program aims to assist adults in basic financial skills. Throughout these lessons participants will develop skills in budgeting, tracking expenses, banking, saving, investing, debtors and creditors, insurance and risk management, entrepreneurship and business finance and philanthropy.
